Sara attempts to chase after her but falls and loses her. The girl warns Sara not to trust Aiden and flees at the sound of his voice. Sara finds a Japanese girl, Hochiko, who claims to know Jess. That night, Sara hears rustling in the bushes and, believing it may be Jess, rushes into the woods after her. Sara refuses, and Aiden volunteers to stay with her through the night. With nightfall approaching, Michi suggests they leave a note for Jess and leave. Deep in the woods, the group discovers a yellow tent that Sara recognizes as Jess’s. Sara refuses to believe this, explaining how, being a twin, she can “feel” that Jess is still alive. Aiden invites her to go into the forest with him and a park guide, Michi, so she can look for her sister.Īs the three enter Aokigahara, Michi tells Sara that Jess has most likely killed herself. Themes relevant anywhere in the World, and captured perfectly by Spurrier.The Forest 2016 Full Movie Free Download Bluray The majority of the story is set in and around the Aokigahara Forest, a forest at the northwest base of Mount Fuji in Japan known as a popular destination for the suicidal. He did a fine job in all those departments, and delivered a worthwhile film that dealt with various themes from bullying, school politics, belonging, spiritual being and it even touched on religion. Director, Spurrier, seemed to be a one man band crew as he also photographed, edited, wrote the screenplay and even scored the music. The dilemmas he faced were conflicting with his morals, and those issues were dealt with intelligibly.

Preecha, played brilliantly by Asanee Suwan, walked away from being a Monk so he could teach the children how to face the World. Searching its eerie dark woods, Sara plunges into a tormented world. When her troubled twin sister mysteriously disappears, Sara Price (Dormer) discovers she vanished in Japan’s infamous Suicide Forest. The highlight was the character of the new male teacher in a backward school town. A young woman’s hunt for her missing sister leads to horror and madness in this terrifying supernatural thriller starring Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones and The Hunger Games franchise). The two played off each other so well that it gave the film a sense of neorealism. The child actress, Wannasa Wintawong, took the limelight, along with her companion, Tanapol Kamkunkam, who played the feral boy, protector of the forest.
More importantly was the performances by the actors that made these characters shine. The two main protagonists, the teacher and the silent student, were well crafted characters that held you in there until the story took an interesting turn for that second half. So it eventually had my attention, and I was glad that my finger didn't press the stop button earlier. A little clumsy with the set-up, but that was all soon forgiven when the second half of this movie ventured into a dark mysterious path with some violence and other adult themes.
It seemed to be a fable for children, with morals on the evil of bullying, as well as befriending ghosts and goblins in the forest. I wasn't quite sure what genre THE FOREST was for the first fifty minutes.
